Stripe Marlin is a worthy opponent and one of the few billfish the you can really target to have a real chance at C/R. Much smaller than a Blue marlin the stipeys are scrappers for their size and will readily take a fly 10 ft off the transom of the boat. You must be quick as the first shot is the best at getting her to eat. Count on many explosive jumps and a few deep rides before release. 12-14wieght-large popper
Spearfish could be my all-time favorite fish for the fly. These snake like billfish are fun to hunt visually by looking for bird signs. They tease in very well for close presentations of the fly and will stick around for multiple casts if you mess up the first cast. Other billfish will leave the area the if you miss the first cast. 9-12weight-medium popper or large streamer.
